PTTC's Executive Director Rowell Resigns

Effective June 30, 2000 PTTC Executive Director, Deborah Rowell resigned. It was announced to the ten regions last November that Ms. Rowell would pursue other challenges. She has been involved with the PTTC since it's inception in 1991.

Ms. Rowell held the primary staff responsibility for founding PTTC and served since 1994 as its first executive director. She was responsible for all aspects of leading and managing the national organization. Prior to joining PTTC, Ms. Rowell had been on senior staff of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) since 1983. Her most recent position was a vice president of economics and information services. A Mississippi native, she received a BS degree in international trade and finance from Louisiana State University and an MA degree in economics at Virginia Tech., pending completion of her dissertation. Ms. Rowell has done post-graduate work at the University of London and served on several industry advisory groups. She earned the designation Certified Association Executive (CAE) in 1998 from the American Society of Association Executives.

Duttlinger Takes Position of New PTTC Executive Director

Donald F. Duttlinger has been named executive director of the Petroleum Technology Transfer Council (PTTC) by its Board of Directors. On July 1, 2000, he replaced Deborah Rowell, PTTC's founding executive director.

"We're very pleased to have Don Duttlinger as PTTC's next executive director. I'm confident that his professionalism and technical expertise will help take PTTC to its next level of success," said Leo Schrider, PTTC chair and senior vice president of Belden & Blake Corporation in North Canton, OH.

Since 1992, Duttlinger has been president of Intechtra Services, Inc.; a Houston-based firm that helps US companies establish operations in West Africa and increase production in existing operations. Although he founded the company, Duttlinger has officially resigned to work full-time for PTTC in Washington, DC.
"Don has excellent credentials to lead our organization and expand into new technology transfer directions", explained Robert Nance, PTTC's immediate past chair, and CEO of Nance Petroleum Company in Billings, MT. "As chair of the search committee, which deliberated for months, I want to thank the many outstanding candidates who were interested in the position. It was a difficult decision, but Don's unique background and enthusiasm for PTTC's future led to a consensus."

Prior to joining PTTC, Duttlinger served as onshore operations training manager for Mobil Oil/Baker Energy in Africa. Before that, he worked as senior engineer of Schlumberger Technical Services in Indonesia. He has been on the Board of the Indonesian-American Business Association since 1994, and also served as its executive vice president. Duttlinger earned an MBA degree from Louisiana State University in 1991, and a BS degree in construction engineering from Purdue University in 1981. He has been a licensed petroleum engineer in Texas since 1992.
