  • Scientific:
    • Numerical analysis of coupled surface/subsurface fluid flow and thermal and reactive mass transport.
    • Mathematical modeling of groundwater flow and contaminant and thermal transport.
    • Improving our understanding of surface and subsurface flow physics, geochemical reactions and energy systems.
    • Integration of advanced atmospheric inputs into a surface/subsurface hydrological modeling environment.
    • Integration of winter processes into a surface/subsurface hydrological modeling environment.
    • Anthropogenic impacts on watershed systems.
  • Linking Science and Policy Development:
    • Integration of the physical sciences into environmental policies and regulations.
    • Developing more pro-active environmental management techniques.
    • Improving the transfer of knowledge between traditional research disciplines.
    • Improving public knowledge and awareness with respect to environmental management strategies.
