Case Studies Highlights to Be Reviewed In ½-Day Workshops

The North Midcontinent PTTC stayed busy during 2003 documenting case studies on technologies that are being successfully applied in Kansas. The technologies that our advisory board felt operators would like additional information on where, how and why they are being applied were:

  1. Gel polymer treatments
  2. GasGunTM stimulations
  3. 3-D seismic applications.

These technologies are being successfully applied in the Arbuckle, as well as other formations in Kansas. The use of these technologies have resulted in new reservoir discoveries, incremental oil recovery and/or reduced operating expenses.

Over 300 production wells have been treated with gel polymer since 2001, over 60 operators have conducted 240 treatments using the GasGunTM process in 11 different formations and over 400 square miles of 3-D seismic data has been acquired by small to moderate sized oil companies in Kansas. We have developed databases on about 100 of the 300 polymer treatments conducted to date, all 240 GasGunTM stimulations and several 3-D seismic projects. Details on the applications and results of these technologies applications were the primary focus of the case studies.

Two ½-day workshops are scheduled to provide operators an overview of the information provided in these case studies and to illustrate how the databases can be accessed and analyzed. The workshops will be conducted by PTTC, TORP and KGS personnel involved in developing these case studies. The Case Study workshops are scheduled for February 24th at the Petroleum Club in Wichita and February 25th at the Holiday Inn in Hays. Both workshops will be held from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. There is a $35 registration fee that includes workshop manuals and lunch. A registration form is provided in this newsletter for your convenience. Please indicate on the form below which location you plan to attend. This will be the only notice for these workshops, so please send in the registration form or contact us if you are interested.
