Depositional Model and Exploration Potential in the St. Louis Carbonates Beneath the Hugoton Field of Kansas

Kansas Geological Survey
Open-file Report 2002-8

The shoals that make up the St. Louis reservoir have been deposited in a variety of depositional environments. The oolitic shoals consist of a series of linear belts trending roughly northwest - southeast across the Hugoton area and platform shoals that have local variations of deposition on sea-floor highs and near barrier islands.
