Survey Advisory Council to Meet in Hutch

LAWRENCE--The advisory council for the Kansas Geological Survey, a division of the University of Kansas, will meet this week in Hutchinson.

The advisory council is made up of twelve members from across the state and meets twice a year to review Survey programs and provide input about Survey activities. Among the group's members are Dennis Clennan, Director of Public Works and Engineering for the city of Hutchinson, and Sharon Falk, manager of the Big Bend Groundwater Management District in Stafford.

The group will meet on the campus of Hutchinson Community College on the afternoon of November 21 and the morning of November 22. Topics on the meeting agenda include budget issues; federal legislation on the High Plains aquifer; the state's Energy Resources Coordination Council; and strategic planning.

Members will also tour locations related to the January 2001 natural gas explosions in Hutchinson.
