Drill Stem Test (DST)
Data Entry & Quantitative Analysis
Description

Work is partially supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) under Grant Number DE-FE0002056.

This Java Applet allows the user to enter or import Drill Stem Test (DST) Data directly into the program. There are essentially no standard ASCII DST data files formats existing that will allow the user to read and process DST Data. This program was written to assist the user in entering DST data, perform quantitative analysis on the shut in pressure data and then to save the information into a Log ASCII Standard (LAS) version 3.0 File developed by the Canadian Well Logging Society . This version provides a means to collect all the geological data in one file. Although the LAS 3.0 Format has default data types, the user can add their own data types to the file provided they use the primary section types, i.e., Parameter, Definition and Data whenever possible, which are briefly paraphrased below, 1.

The Kansas Geological Survey (KGS) Database contains over 1000 digital Trilobite DST reports that the user can access and download into the applet.

This web application will take advantage of over 11 years of Java development experience at the Kansas Geological Survey (KGS) in developing web applications that plot oil & gas data and allows the geologist to perform analysis with that data, i.e. GEMINI Project & Tools on the KGS Web Site.

GEMINI (Geo-Engineering Modeling through INternet Informatics) Project was developed to allow the geologist to seamlessly integrate databases and geological analytical tools across the web. Analytical tools were designed for the independent oil and gas operators, consultants, and widely separated team members within and outside companies.

The DST Data will be saved under the "~TEST_..." data sections, which is considered the default LAS 3.0 Section for this data, an example is shown below.
