CO2 and Type Log Profile Download Java Source to your PC

This web page are instructions to download the CO2_Profile Directory with all the files necessary in compiling and running the CO2 and Type Log Profile Application. You will first need to download a free Java Development Kit (JDK) from ORACLE Java, http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html

Click on the "JDK" Download Button and follow directions. You will need to know what kind of computer operating system you are working on.

You will also need a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) on your PC to run the web app on your pc. Click on the "JRE" Download Button and follow directions. The same is true for the JRE, you will need to know what kind of computer operating system you are working on.

The CO2 and Type Log Profile Application software is bundled by 2 methods as a ZIP file and as a JAR File. Both will create the CO2_Profile directory with all the source files to build the CO2 and Type Log Profile Application. The Build.bat and Run.bat are designed for the Windows Environment, but it shows the procedure & source files for compiling and running the Java Application. If you use the script you will need to replace the calls "C:\jdk1.7.0_25\bin\" in the scripts to the JDK directory that you downloaded to your PC.

• Download CO2_Profile.zip to your PC CO2_Profile.zip, i.e. right mouse click the URL Link to the left and select "save as ..." and save it anywhere you like on your PC.

  Unzip the file. The program files are located under a directory called 'CO2_Profile' so it is safe to unzip where ever you like.

• Download CO2_Profile.jar to your PC CO2_Profile.jar, i.e. right mouse click the URL Link to the left and select "save as ..." and save it anywhere you like on your PC.

  Extract the JAR file by the following command
  
  C:\jdk1.7.0_25\bin\jar xf CO2_Profile.jar

  The program files are located under a directory called 'CO2_Profile' so it is safe to extract the jar where ever you like.

Directory Structure of CO2_Profile

/data - directory contains the lookup XML (Extensible Markup Language) files necessary for running the Application.
/lib - directory holds the JAR File.
/src - directory CO2 and Type Log Profile Source Files
/images - directory CO2 and Type Log Profile images

   Build.bat - Windows Batch file for compiling the CO2 and Type Log Profile Application.
   Run_TypeLog.bat - Windows Batch file for running the Type Log Profile Application
   Run_CO2.bat - Windows Batch file for running the CO₂ Profile Application
   Manifest.txt - A required file needed in the JAR file to meet ORACLE-Java security requirements.
   Profile.txt - Contents of the CO2 and Type Log Profile JAR File.

REMEMBER to replace the "C:\jdk1.7.0_25\bin\" with the JDK directory path you downloaded to your PC in the Build.bat and Run.bat files.

Build.bat

This file will compile the CO2 and Type Log Profile Java Source code. In a Command Prompt window enter: Build > temp.txt. This will run the Build script and send all the steps to the temp.txt file. If any errors show you will be able to see it and open the temp.txt to find the error.

• Create Directory Structure: The script first creates the new source directory structure in the main directory.
• Copy "src" directory to the new source directory structure: The script copies the source files from the "src" directory to the new source directory structure. It doesn't move the files it makes a copy of the source directory only for the purpose of compiling the code.
• Compile Source: The script compiles the CO2 and Type Log Profile, with the following call,
  
  C:\jdk1.7.0_25\bin\javac -Xlint:deprecation Profile.java

• Remove the Java Source Files: The script deletes all the java source files from created directory structure. The Java source is no longer necessary only the class files need to remain.
• Remove the JAR Contents text file: The Profile.txt, which shows the contents of the CO2 JAR file is deleted.

• Build the JAR File: The CO2 and Type Log Profile Class Files are loaded into the Profile.jar File with the following call,
  
  C:\jdk1.7.0_25\bin\jar cvfm Profile.jar Manifest.txt *.class cmn gui iqstrat gemini horizon kgs las las3 lith mask math parse plot rock util xml xsection data images

• Create a JAR Content Text File: The following call creates the Profile.txt file with the contents of the Profile.jar file,
  
  C:\jdk1.7.0_25\bin\jar tvf Profile.jar > Profile.txt

• Move JAR File to "lib" Directory: The JAR file is moved to the "lib" directory,
  
  MOVE Profile.jar lib

• Remove Class Files: The contents of the created directory structures are deleted.
• Remove Directory Structure: The created directory structures are removed.

Only the contents of the CO2 and Type Log Profile JAR file, "Profile.txt" is left.

Run.bat

This file will run the CO2 and Type Log Profile Application on your PC. Just double click on the 'Run.bat' script.
