Kansas Geological Survey Open-File Report 2000-60
Sources, Transport and Management of Salt Contamination in the Groundwater of South-Central Kansas
by H. Rubin, D. P. Young, and R. W. Buddemeier
Also available as a Microsoft Word document

Report discusses the regional and local issues relating to groundwater quality in the larger salt-affected area of south-central Kansas, and proposes some regional, system-level approaches to preserving and remediating water quality in the areas of greatest concern. That report draws on the expertise of Prof. Hillel Rubin, a visiting scientist from Technion Instute in Israel, who has extensive experience with engineering solutions to problems of water quantity and quality in areas of limited water resources. We note that some of the material and concepts discussed are relevant to Water Plan 2010 objectives as well as to the specific EBMI issues.
