Current Research in Earth Sciences has been superseded by the new journal Midcontinent Geosciences.

About Current Research

Current Research in Earth Sciences is a peer-reviewed publication of the Kansas Geological Survey, a division of the University of Kansas. Each annual issue of this bulletin contains short articles about earth-science research in the midcontinent (North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri).

Because of the flexibility of online publication, Current Research is a perfect outlet for papers that:

  • have numerous figures,
  • require color illustrations,
  • use animation, or
  • contain lots of tables or other supporting data.

Past issues of Current Research in Earth Sciences were published as traditional paper volumes. The first two issues were published under the designation of Current Research on Kansas Geology. The name was changed in 1995 to reflect the broader scope of the bulletin. Current Research went online in January 1997. Articles published online in 1997 and 1998 were collected at the end of the year and printed as Bulletins 240 and 241. Since 1999, Current Research is published solely as an electronic journal.
