Welcome to the home page of the international workshop on
Numerical Experiments in Stratigraphy
Held May 15-17, 1996, in Lawrence, Kansas, this workshop will assemble
international experts in quantitative modeling and simulation of the
stratigraphic record and those working on deriving such data suited for
these models.
Latest changes and updates
Data sets now available
Two WWW pages that contain information about the model comparison datasets are
now available. The carbonate dataset is described
in carbonate.txt
and the siliciclastic dataset in silicicl.txt.
These text files provide
information needed to develop a model and generate specified output.
The carbonate dataset is from the mostly exposed Miocene carbonate platform
margin at Mallorca, Spain. The siliciclastic dataset is from the offshore
Baltimore Canyon area (US) and is based on a high resolution seismic line
and age model acquired by the Lamont research group. It is a great looking
line that crosses the continental shelf extending unto the slope. The hard
copy of the seismic line, interpreted overlay, and datasets have been mailed
to 15 groups.
We have extended the date to May 1 for those wishing to submit model results
prior to the workshop. The information obtained by us will be used to
prepare a summary for the meeting. Presentation format by modelers on the
first day of the meeting on model comparison remains the same as described
later in this home page.
Abstracts and registration forms are due now.
If you have any questions, please contact the conveners.
