Net Coal Map Methodology

• Data sources include the National Coal Resource Database System (NCRDS) and geophysical logs (information compiled by R.M. Delong)

• Included cores that fully or partially penetrated the Pottsville and Allegheny Groups
  • Should be considered a minimum thickness
  • Most data points span at least four major coal beds, or fewer very thick coal beds

• Best used as a general guide to coal thickness
