6 CLAY--silty, light to medium gray, some red mottling and yellow stain, considerable amount of small pyrite especially in weathered seams 8.0

4 SLITSTONE--clayey, gray with some yellow, slight gypsum and pyrite 2.7

1 CLAY--fairly plastic, gray, very little stain, some lignite particles, has steely blue appearance when dry, more of the same clay in bottom of the pit 4.0
