Page--Natural Gas Production Outpaces Consumption
Coal's share of energy consumption began to grow sharply in the mid-1970's as Lacygne, Jeffery Energy Center and Holcomb coal-fired units came on-line between 1973 and 1983.
Petroleum production has been declining since the 1950's with 1998 production at 1/3 of 1960 levels and half of mid-1980's levels. While consumption has had several peaks and valleys, overall it has decreased since the mid-80's.
