Stratigraphic Forward Modeling

Course summary: A one-day course on stratigraphic forward modeling for exploration geologists, reservoir engineers, and geophysicists. The course is both an introduction and a review of current approaches to the prediction of reservoir and seal location and quality in marine and fluvial environments. In addition to the course manual, participants will be provided with a CD-ROM that contains case studies and techniques described in the course.

About the instructor: Dr. Cedric M. Griffiths has worked for over twenty years in the field of computer applications in stratigraphy and petrophysics in Africa, Norway and Australia. He was the Nordic Council Research Professor in Petrophysics at NTH, Trondheim, Norway, and recently held the South Australian State Chair in Petroleum Geology, Adealide, South Australia. He has been secretary of the IUGS Committee on Quantitative Stratigraphy and a council member of the IAMG. He currently runs a Predictive Geoscience team within the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation.
