Production occurs from marine to fluvial-esturine sandstones surrounded by shales near the top of the Morrowan Series. Although shown as Morrowan, the actual age of these sandstones is debated and may actually be Atokan. Note that the thickest areas of sandstone appear to occur above channels cut into the underlying Mississippian limestone, though they are not limited to occurring above these channels. In addition, not all the channels have productive sandstones above them.
