Low-BTU Gas in the Permian Chase Group in the Ryersee Field in Western Kansas: A Case History where Technology Creates a Marketable Commodity

Kansas Geological Survey
Open-file Report 2003-57

Processing Sequence for Low-BTU Gas at Ryersee Field

The nitrogen rejection facility at the Ryersee Field can process 5 million standard cubic feet per day (5 MMSCFD). It is one of the smallest facilities of its type. The advancement of the microcomputer allows the cryogenic process (formerly used only at large-scales) to be adapted for a smaller processing plant. Several steps are necessary to upgrade the heating value of the Ryersee Chase gas and to refine and concentrate its helium.
