Open-file Report 2003-33

A query of individual brine analyses can be mapped and queried from the map server. The resulting temperature, pressure (depth) and salinity can be used in various calculators to determine the solubility of CO2 in the brine in the Arbuckle and the potential of any area of Kansas to sequester CO2. Using an 8 percent porosity, the entire Arbuckle Aquifer underlying Kansas has the potential to sequester a very large quantity of CO2. A number approaching 16,994 trillion cubic feet of CO2. (894 billion metric tonnes).
