Paragenesis and Microscopic Textures

Crinoidal ooltic grainstone cemented with drusy calcite. Micritized crinoidal debris and ooids with ghosts of oolite cortices preserved. Oomoldic pores with blue-dye epoxy filling with occasional coarse calcite spar. Crushed oomolds containing scattered cement shards. Occasional mold filled by coarse dolomite cement. Thin section photomicrograph stained by alizarin-red. Gore Leurman #7 3040 ft. Scale bar 0.5 mm. Plane polarized light.
Crinoidal oolitic grainstone with blue-dye epoxy filled oomolds cemented by drusy calcite. Millimeter- to centimeter-sized areas of collapsed ooids and cement. Oomolds contain shards of drusy cement presumably collected in pore as crushing occurred. Some larger calcite spar in molds appears to be in place. Thin section photomicrograph stained by alizerin-red. Gore Leurman #7 3040 ft. Scale bar 0.5 mm. Plane polarized light.
Oolitic grainstone containing abundant oomolds with blue-dye epoxy filled pores. Broken oomolds with small connections between oomolds seen in this plane of view. Also, fine cement shards appear to form geopedal fabric. Other cement shards have collected along other positions on walls of oomolds. Thin section photomicrograph stained with alizerin-red. Oolitic grainstone with oomolds. Some oomolds are crushed along with drusy cement. View of fringing spar calcite cement shards that have accumulated in vug along with large fragments of calcite cement. Area filled with blue epoxy. Other ooids appear to consist of neomorphozed calcite spar. with intervenning pore space filled with in place druzy calcite. Thin section photomicrograph stained on right side by alizerin-red. Oomoldic grainstone containing heavily neomorphosed cement with crystals terminations into oomolds and reduction of original oomold shape. Areas appear to be crushed on left side, preceeding neomorphism. Thin section photomicrograph stained with alizerin-red. Eichman A-17-W #7. Scale bar equals 0.5 mm. Plane polarized light.
Oomoldic grainstone containing heavily neomorphosed calcite cement. Cement has grown into original oomold pores reducing pore volume. Note that most of these pores are not filled with blue epoxy suggesting that these pores are not connected. Thin section photomicrograph stained with alizerin-red. Drews A-1. 3147 ft.
