The Hugoton Project is an Industry, University and Governmental funded consortium whose purpose is to develop technology and information to better understand the oil and gas resources of the Hugoton Embayment in Southwest Kansas.

For the purposes of this project, the Hugoton Embayment is defined by the 14 southwestern counties of Kansas (Finney, Grant, Gray, Greeley, Hamilton, Haskell, Kearney, Meade, Morton, Scott, Seward, Stanton, Stevens and Wichita)

Hugoton Assest Mangement Project (HAMP) A collaboration between the Kansas Geological Survey and industry partners with the primary goals being modeling the Permian gas systems of the Hugoton and Panoma Fields in southwest Kansas and Oklahoma Panhandle and building a digital pools catalogue for the pre-Permian fields in southwest Kansas.
