Doniphan County, Kansas

The Missouri River is 2,533 miles long, making it the longest river in North America (about 200 miles longer than the Mississippi River). The Missouri drains 530,000 square miles; its drainage basin extends from Glacier National Park in Montana to St. Louis, Missouri, and includes the northern part of Kansas. This photo was taken near Kansas Highway 7 in northern Doniphan County (from The Geologic Record, vol. 3.2).
