The matrix permeability (horizontal permeability) to effective porosity cross plot was created from standard laboratory measurements on 104 core plugs taken from different wells in Schaben. This correlation was used to obtained a map of matrix permeability in the field.

However, fluid flow in Schaben field is affected by movement through both matrix and fractures. Thus, a multiplying factor was employed on the matrix permeability to obtain the effective horizontal permeability. During the simulation study, a multiplication factor of 5 was selected by trial and error as it provided the best match of the total field production with the history.
