The Annual Conference of the International Association for Mathematical Geology, IAMG2001, will be held in Cancún, Mexico, September 6-12, 2001. IAMG2001 will focus on the use of mathematical modeling and simulation throughout the geosciences, including basin modeling, simulation of depositional environments, modeling of aquifers and reservoirs, global climate, and ocean circulation, among other topics. The second focus will be on computer mapping and automated cartography as applied to geology including: geologic map data models, data capture, map design, and map distribution technologies. Six days of meetings will be devoted to technical sessions, tutorial workshops (in Spanish and English), and excursions in areas of scientific and tourist interest. A program for accompanying guests and the traditional conference banquet are also planned.
