Sequence Stratigraphy of Delta-Dominated, Mixed Carbonate-Siliciclastic Depositional Systems of the Upper Pennsylvanian Ochelata Group, Oklahoma and Kansas

This fieldtrip centers on the interpretation of the basin-fill architecture of the Upper Pennsylvanian (Missourian) Ochelata Group of northern Oklahoma and contiguous strata in southern Kansas. The response of these delta-dominated, mixed carbonate-siliciclastic depositional systems to hierarchical changes in relative sea-level will be examined and discussed. Particular focus will be on the recognition and significance of facies trends, stratal geometries, and key surfaces used to generate the sequence stratigraphic framework of the Ochelata Group.
