Theme Session 20

The Legacy of Raymond Cecil Moore (1892-1974): The 20th Century's Paleontologist-Stratigrapher Laureate

Daniel Merriam, University of Kansas
Paul Enos, University of Kansas

The symposium is organized to honor R. C. Moore, State Geologist and Director of the Kansas Geological Survey and Chairman of the University of Kansas department of Geology, a world researcher, teacher, and administrator deluxe for more than half century (1916-1974). His legacy lives on through the international Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology housed at the University of Kansas. Former students, faculty, and friends will present a variety of views at the symposium on Moore, the man and his scientific contributions and influence on others during his lifetime.
