1. Why should I log in to GEMINI?

Login is needed to: create workspace on KGS server for your projects, save projects (and reports) and later return to them to review and update. Data can be uploaded into your workspace on the KGS server and be designated as confidential. No cookies are sent to the users. A Password is included in login to: protect your project and share the project and data with designated users for collaborative analysis.

2. I click on a module, but nothing comes up.

If you have a pop-up stopper to restrict ads or re-direction of web pages, it needs to be disabled while running GEMINI. (This is usually done by right-clicking the program and toggling the Close Popups or Click Allow Popup options. The pop-up stopper program usually are located in the lower right part of your monitor - near the time.)

3. Some of my screens don't seem to display correctly.

Some video cards do not display GEMINI screens correctly. The Appian MultiDesk sometimes shows the input screens as one line or can spread the screen across more than one screen. If you have the Appian HydraVision software try turning off the Application Position Memory option. This seems to allow the screens to work better.

4. Minimum systems requirements to install Java Plug-in.

The Java Plug in requires at least a Pentium 166mhz computer with 32mb of RAM. However, installing, setting up and running a Java version of 1.4 or greater may be slow, difficult and not very reliable. A more realisitic system requirements would be at least a Pentium II-400mhz, 128mb of RAM running Windows 98/me/NT4/2000 or XP.

5. Java and disk space in cache in Windows 2000

Java 1.4 (other versions may do this as well) creates a cache directory to save time in reloading images, applets, webpages, etc. This directory should be purged occasionally unless you have a slow modem connection. the directory should be found in "x":Documents and Settings/<user name>/.jpi_cache/file/1.0 and "x":Documents and Settings/<user name>/.jpi_cache/jar/1.0.
